About Metadata Cleaner

Metadata Cleaner removes the metadata that the inspectors find and copies everything else unchanged. Images are never decoded or re-encoded, so quality stays the same. It runs entirely in your browser: files are never uploaded.

What it removes

Location, camera serial numbers, author and editor names, AI prompts, comments, thumbnails, Content Credentials, data hidden after the end of a file, and invisible characters in text.

What it keeps

The content itself, color profiles and the orientation of photos. Files with tracked changes, macros, signatures or filled-in forms are left untouched unless you allow their removal in Options.

How it checks

Every cleaned file is inspected again before you can save it. If metadata remains or the content changed, no file is produced.

Limitations

Files in formats the cleaner cannot rewrite safely, including programs, are refused and never altered.
Invisible watermarks such as SynthID are part of the pixels and are not affected.
Phone photos can carry an HDR gain map or depth map after the main image. Removing it can make an HDR photo look flatter.
